Common Rubber Extruded Profiles
1、Rubber Cord
A rubber cord is a long, continuous, circular or rectangular piece of hard or fluffy rubber. They are made of a variety of rubbers, depending on the intended application, including natural rubber, silicone, EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer), NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber), and neoprene (CR, Chloroprene Rubber), among others includes Flexible rubber cord, durability, UV light , is known for its resistance to ozone, chemicals, extreme temperatures and other environmental factors.
Rubber cord is used in many different ways in different industries. Usually used for insulation, where they fill in between two spaces to prevent moisture or air from entering. This makes them ideal in the automotive, aerospace, construction and manufacturing industries, where they can be used in window and door seals, gaskets, weatherproofing and vibration reduction Furthermore, they can cut rubber cord customized to specific lengths and sizes to meet special application requirements.
Characteristics of Rubber Cord
Types of Rubber Cords
Hollow Rubber Cord
This type of rubber cord has a central void or hollow, making it light and flexible. Ideal for applications requiring compressible materials that can easily conform to irregular shapes or materials. The hollow interior also provides additional insulation.
Co-Extruded Rubber Cord
Co-extruded rubber cord is layered using a process that combines two or more different rubber materials into a single cord or offers unique properties such as chemical resistance.
Sponge Rubber Cord
Made from foam rubber, sponge rubber cord features its open or closed cell structure, which provides good cushioning and compression properties They are lightweight and have good thermal and sound insulation, making them suitable for sealing applications where air and water barriers.
Solid Rubber Cord
As the name implies, solid rubber cords are stiff, with none, making them more durable and durable. They are resistant to thunder and shock, and can withstand a wide range of temperatures and chemicals. Solid rubber tubes are versatile and can be used in a variety of sealing, gasketing and vibration damping applications.
Material Options
EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer)
EPDM rubber cords are known for their outstanding resistance to weathering, ozone, UV rays and aging. They perform well in hot water and steam conditions, making them ideal for outdoor and automotive seal applications.
NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber)
NBR rubber cords excel in resistance to oil, gasoline and other hydrocarbons, making them suitable for use in the automotive, aerospace and aerospace industries where oil resistance is critical.
CR (chloroprene rubber, neoprene)
CR cord provides a balanced blend of resistance to weathering, ozone and chemicals in addition to flame retardant. They are versatile and suitable for a wide range of applications including gaskets and hoses in a variety of industries.
FKM (Fluoroelastomer)
FKM rubber cords stand out for exceptional thermal, chemical and aging resistance, making them perfect for harsh environmental conditions in the pharmaceutical and aerospace industries.
Silicone
Silicone rubber cords stand out for their extensive thermal tolerance, excellent flexibility and compression set resistance. They are non-toxic and biocompatible, ideal for medical and food-grade applications.
2、Rubber Tubing
Rubber tubing is a flexible hollow tube made of rubber which is used to transport fluids, gases and sometimes even solid objects between two different locations. It has the ability to be stretched and compressed many times without tearing or breaking, as well as being highly resistant to temperatures and pressure. The materials commonly used for making rubber tubing include natural rubber and synthetic rubbers such as silicone, EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer), NBR(Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) among others each with distinct properties suitable for specific uses.
Rubber tubing is widely used across many industries due to its versatility. In medicine it is responsible for blood transfusion, transferring fluids or gases. Chemical substances can travel through this medium in laboratories by attaching their apparatus together. Automotive industry connects fuel lines, air hoses & hydraulic hoses with it. Building sector employs it for a variety of sealing and insulating roles. Such characteristics as the malleability of the product, its resistance towards chemicals, toleration of temperature plus the ease with which it forms an air tight or water tight joint make this type of tube indispensable in many applications.
Rubber Tubing Material Options
We can process various rubber materials and are able to extrude rubber tubing from silicone, EPDM, NBR, CR, FKM, etc.
Silicone
Silicone is composed of silicon, carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. The backbone of silicon-oxygen bonds in silicone rubber grants it unique properties, including thermal stability and low chemical reactivity. It offers exceptional flexibility, resilience to temperature extremes, UV and ozone resistance, and non-toxicity. Silicone can also be produced in medical-grade formulations. Additionally, it provides insulation and has good resistance to compression set.
Hardness Range:50+/-5 Shore A
Applicable Temperature Range: -55°C to +230°C (-67°F to +446°F). Silicone can withstand higher temperatures for short periods.
Applications: Silicone is widely used in medical devices, food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, automotive applications (such as coolant hoses), and electrical insulation.
EPDM(Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer)
EPDM is a terpolymer of ethylene, propylene, and a diene component, which allows for sulfur vulcanization. It has excellent resistance to weathering, ozone, UV, chemicals, and aging, as well as good heat resistance; however, it has poor resistance to oil and gasoline.
Hardness Range: 30 to 90 Shore A
Applicable Temperature Range: -50°C to +150°C (-58°F to +302°F). EPDM maintains its flexibility at lower temperatures.
Applications: EPDM is ideal for outdoor applications, such as window and door seals, waterproofing sheets, and automotive weather stripping. It is also used in steam hose applications due to its excellent heat resistance.
NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber)
NBR is a copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiene, contributing to its oil resistance. The acrylonitrile content is varied to adjust the rubber’s resistance to oils and fuels. It has excellent resistance to oil, solvents, and other hydrocarbons, good abrasion resistance, and is less resistant to UV, ozone, and aging compared to EPDM.
Hardness Range: 40 to 90 Shore A
Applicable Temperature Range: -40°C to +100°C (-40°F to +212°F). NBR can handle higher temperatures in oil applications.
Applications: NBR is primarily used in applications involving oils, fuels, and solvents, such as automotive fuel lines, oil handling hoses, and gaskets.
FKM (Fluoroelastomer)
FKM (Fluoroelastomer) is comprised of various monomers containing fluorine, such as vinylidene fluoride and hexafluoropropylene, which provide its resistance to heat and chemicals. It boasts excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance (especially to hydrocarbons, acids, and alkalis), and outstanding aging properties.
Hardness Range: 55 to 90 Shore A
Applicable Temperature Range: -20°C to +200°C (-4°F to +392°F)
Applications: FKM tubing is utilized in environments subjected to high temperatures and harsh chemicals, such as those found in the aerospace, automotive (notably in fuel injection systems), and chemical processing industries.
